Paddi Pages E-Zine - Issue #1


Introduction

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Paddi Pages, a page-at-a-glance look at the most commonly asked questions and popular ideas in Paddi's publications. I'm Fletcher Potanin, Paddi's publisher, friend and 'business interpreter'.

Many years ago, when I first heard Paddi tell his story in public, I don't think I was alone in my somewhat sceptical first impressions,

-------- The question on everyone's mind --------

"This guy must be crazy! Surely this can't be real?"

But the more I heard about his approach to business, the more I was amazed at how real it really was.

I was helping coordinate a seminar with US marketing guru, Jay Abraham, one of his first appearances in Australia. Everyone in the room was taking turns on stage with Jay in the "Hot Seat" where their business was picked apart and opportunities for growth explored by one of the most astute business minds on the planet.

In his usual way, Paddi was a bit reluctant and waited till the last to take his place in the "Hot Seat". I'll never forget the feeling in the room, "Well, he's a dentist. THIS should be boring!"

I mean really, a dentist at a 3 day marketing seminar. What's the point, right?

But then, as Paddi's story began to unfold, the power and impact of his message - his entirely different thinking about business conventions - hit everyone like a brick.

After a little bit of prying from Jay, we started hearing things like,

  • A locked front door
  • No reception desk
  • Tea served in Royal Doulton China
  • TVs on the ceiling (it was revolutionary at the time)
  • Pain free dentistry and a pain-free guarantee!
  • Referring friends as a prerequisite of being a client

I can tell you now, when Paddi's session was forcibly ended (Jay had gone twice as long as time allowed - we just couldn't hear enough) there wasn't one person the room who wasn't slack-jawed, open-mouthed in wonderment.

That day was the beginning of a journey of discovery for me; a quest to explore what I knew to be a powerful business doctrine but that I couldn't quite fully understand or see at the time.

The result of that journey is, of course, what you've found at our website and in the business publications that we've produced to illustrate the best parts of Paddi's business.
